Hypnotherapy
When You Know What You Want to Change, But Knowing Hasn't Been Enough
There are things we understand intellectually long before they actually change.
You know the habit isn't serving you. You know the belief isn't really true anymore. You know how you'd rather respond.
And yet, in the moment, the old response can still be the one that shows up first.
Hypnotherapy gives us another way into that work. Rather than analyzing everything from the thinking mind alone, we create a quiet, focused state where you can work more intentionally with the thoughts, associations, beliefs, and patterns that may be operating beneath your everyday awareness.
You remain aware. You remain yourself. And you remain in control of the experience.
Maybe You've Been Here Before
You've talked something through. You've journaled about it. Thought about it. Made the decision. Maybe you've even changed it for a while.
But eventually, you find yourself back in the same place.
That doesn't necessarily mean you need more willpower or another strategy. Sometimes there's simply a gap between what you consciously know and what has become deeply familiar within you.
A reaction can become familiar. A belief can become familiar. A way of seeing yourself can become familiar.
Even a pattern you genuinely want to leave behind can feel strangely automatic simply because you've practiced it, consciously or not, for a very long time.
Hypnotherapy creates space to work with that deeper layer. Not by forcing anything away. By becoming quiet enough to work with what is already there.
What Hypnotherapy Actually Feels Like
If your only reference for hypnosis is someone on a stage making people do ridiculous things, you can forget that version. This is very different.
During a session, I'll guide you into a state of focused relaxation. Some people compare it to the moments just before falling asleep. Others describe it as the absorbed feeling of becoming completely immersed in a book, meditation, music, or daydream.
You're relaxed, but you're still aware. You can hear me. You can speak. You can move. You can open your eyes. And you can stop at any time.
There isn't a moment when I somehow take over your mind or gain access to something you don't want me to have. You're participating in the process the entire time. That matters to me.
You Don't Have to Force the Change
I think this is one of the most important parts of this work.
We can become so accustomed to fighting ourselves. Why am I still doing this? I should be over this by now. I know better. Why can't I just stop?
But what if we became curious instead? What is this pattern doing here? What has it come to represent? What does some part of you still associate with it? What would it feel like if a different response became available?
Hypnotherapy isn't about overpowering yourself. It's an opportunity to work with yourself differently.
What We Might Work With
People come to hypnotherapy for all kinds of everyday patterns, goals, and personal changes.
You might want to work on a habit you've struggled to shift. You may want to feel more confident walking into a room, speaking in front of people, taking a test, or doing something that matters to you. Maybe your mind has trouble settling at night. Maybe you're tired of second-guessing yourself. Or perhaps there's an old belief about who you are or what you're capable of that simply doesn't fit anymore.
Our work may support areas such as:
Habits and recurring patterns
Confidence and self-trust
Stress and everyday overwhelm
Relaxation and sleep routines
Performance and public speaking confidence
Mindset and self-talk
Personal goals and behavior change
Beliefs that no longer fit who you're becoming
You don't need to arrive knowing exactly what the root is. That's part of what we can explore together.
Sometimes the Shift Is Simply Having Another Choice
The goal isn't to walk out of a session as an entirely different person. You're still you.
What can begin to change is your relationship with something that once felt automatic.
There may be a little more space between the trigger and the reaction. A thought you once accepted immediately may become something you can question. A situation that used to bring up the same internal response may begin to feel different. An old belief may not carry quite the same weight.
And sometimes that's where meaningful change starts. Not with a dramatic breakthrough. With a different choice becoming available where there used to be only the familiar one.
Hypnotherapy at Embody
Hypnotherapy isn't separate from the way I approach the rest of my work. I don't see you as a habit to eliminate or a behavior to correct. I'm interested in the whole person sitting in front of me.
Your experiences. Your thoughts. Your body. Your patterns. Your inner knowing. The things you understand, and sometimes the things you can't quite explain yet.
My background in counseling, coaching, mind-body practices, meditation, and hypnosis informs how I hold this work.
Sometimes hypnotherapy is the primary focus of our time together. Sometimes conversation leads us there. Sometimes what emerges afterward becomes something we explore through coaching or reflective counseling. We follow what the work actually needs rather than forcing every session into the same formula.
Past Life Regression
Sometimes the Curiosity Goes Deeper
Not everyone comes to hypnotherapy because there's something they want to change. Sometimes there's simply something they want to explore.
A recurring feeling. A place that feels strangely familiar. A relationship that seems to carry more weight than you can explain. A dream, an image, a sense of knowing, or even just the question: have I been here before?
Past Life Regression uses guided relaxation and hypnotic techniques to invite you into a deeper, more receptive state of awareness where imagery, emotions, memories, impressions, or stories may emerge.
What those experiences mean is yours to decide. You may understand what arises through a spiritual lens and experience it as a connection with another lifetime. You may understand it symbolically, as your inner world communicating through imagery and story. Or you may simply remain curious without needing to define it at all.
I won't tell you what you're supposed to believe. My role is to create a grounded, supportive space for the experience, guide you through it, and give you room afterward to reflect on what came forward and what, if anything, it means for your life now.
Because sometimes the value isn't in proving where something came from. It's in noticing what it brings forward in you today.
Your First Session
We don't begin with "close your eyes." We begin with a conversation.
I want to understand what brings you here, what you've already tried, what you'd like to change or explore, and what you hope will feel different. We'll talk through hypnotherapy itself, what you can expect, and any questions or concerns you have before we begin.
If we decide hypnotherapy makes sense for what you're working on, I'll guide you through the process. Nothing is sprung on you. Nothing needs to be performed correctly. And you don't need to be "good at hypnosis." You simply need to be willing to participate.
Sessions with Embody are currently offered virtually, so you can join from a private, comfortable space of your own.

Embody Holistic Therapy & Counseling is a private-pay practice and does not accept insurance. This is an intentional part of how I've chosen to structure my work. It allows our sessions to remain centered on you and what you actually need, without requiring a diagnosis or working within the limitations of an insurance-directed treatment model.
Every new client begins with a 90-minute initial session. This gives us time to talk about what brings you here, what you'd like to change or explore, what you've already tried, and what kind of support may make sense for you. From there, we can shape our work together around your individual needs and goals.
Hypnotherapy at Embody is offered within a non-diagnostic coaching, counseling, and educational practice. I do not provide licensed psychotherapy, psychiatric care, medical treatment, or diagnosis, and my services are not a substitute for care from an appropriately licensed healthcare professional.
If something you're navigating falls outside the scope of my work, I'll always be transparent about that and encourage you to connect with the appropriate clinical or medical support.
My goal is simple: to create a private, supportive space where you can explore what's happening within you, understand yourself more deeply, and move forward in a way that feels right for you.
Maybe You've Tried to Think Your Way Through It Long Enough
You don't have to fight yourself into becoming someone different.
Sometimes change begins by getting quiet enough to notice what's been happening beneath the surface and creating space for another way forward.
And sometimes you're not looking to change anything at all. You're simply ready to explore something within yourself that you've been curious about for a long time.
Either is a place we can begin.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
No. Hypnotherapy isn't about giving control to someone else. You remain aware and able to communicate throughout the experience, and you can stop at any point.
-
You don't need a special ability. Hypnosis involves focused attention and relaxation, and people experience that state differently. There isn't one particular sensation you're supposed to achieve for the session to be worthwhile.
-
Typically, yes. This isn't intended to make you unconscious. You're participating in the session while it is happening.

There isn't one number that applies to everyone. It depends on what you'd like to work on and how you respond to the process. We'll decide together whether a single session or ongoing work makes the most sense.
-
Yes. Sessions are currently offered virtually. You'll want a quiet, private place where you can comfortably sit or recline without being interrupted.
-
No. You don't need to hold a particular spiritual belief to explore Past Life Regression. Some people understand what arises as experiences from another lifetime. Others understand it as symbolic imagery, imagination, intuition, or the subconscious expressing itself through story. You don't need to decide beforehand what you believe. We can simply stay curious about what arises and what it means to you.
-
Then start there. You don't have to convince yourself that hypnotherapy is right for you before contacting me. We can talk about what you're hoping to work on, and I can answer your questions so you can decide whether this feels like the right next step.
